New Graduate Student Checklist

This checklist for newly admitted graduate students will help you stay on track and transition smoothly.

Accept Your Seat

Please let us know if you are accepting or declining our admission offer, as soon as possible, by submitting the “Confirmation of Graduate Program Enrollment Form” as well as a non-refundable $200 Graduate Enrollment Deposit ($500 for DPT students) to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Contact Your Advisor

Please contact your advisor in your academic program to discuss your course selection for the upcoming semester. Your advisor will also be able to answer any questions you may have regarding the class schedules and the program. Students should also refer to the Dominican University Student Handbook for Graduate Students and the student handbook and guidelines for their respective programs.

Register for Classes

After you speak to your Academic Adviser, you will be issued a Registration Card which you will submit to the Registrar’s Office. For more information, please contact the Registrar’s Office at (845) 848-7810 or visit the Registrar website. Please note that a registration fee is due at the time that you register for classes.

Apply for Financial Aid

If you are applying for financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form as soon as possible. The Dominican University federal school code is 002713. All FAFSAs must be filled out online.

Corporate/ Hospital Reimbursement

Students whose employers will reimburse all or part of a student’s tuition expenses may ask the University to defer that portion of their tuition bill eligible for reimbursement. At the time of registration, the student will be required to pay that portion of the student’s bill not covered by the employer’s reimbursement plan, or establish a payment plan with the Bursar Office.

Submit Your Health Record Information

To be in compliance with state laws, all enrolled students must provide proof of immunizations for measles, mumps, and rubella. In addition, students must also show proof of a meningitis immunization, or sign a waiver. All of this documentation must be submitted to the Health Center within 30 days of enrollment. Failure to do so will result in the revoking of the privilege of attending classes.  Please submit your immunization paperwork as soon as possible. You can do this through our Patient Portal.

The MMR Immunization Documentation and Meningitis Response Form must be completed and returned to the Health Center to complete your registration requirements.

Set up your University Email Account

All official communication from the University will be sent to your official University email account. It is important that you check your account daily! Consider loading your email onto your smartphone. 

Register for Mass Notification Text

The Dominican University text-messaging service provided by Omnilert is a key component of the University’s emergency notification program.  In the event of major life, saftey or public-health emergency on campus, the Security Office will notify and advise students, faculty and staff via a number of communication channels, including text message.  All members of the Dominican University community are strongly encouraged to enroll in the program.

Title IX Sexual Conduct and Harassment Information

The health, safety, and well-being of our students are Dominican University’s primary concern.  If you or someone you know is a survivor of sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, there are many resources available at Dominican University and in the Rockland County community to assist in both immediate and long-term care and recovery. DUNY Card

The DUNY Card is your permanent Dominican University ID, in addition to a flexible-spending card that runs a declining balance. Learn more about your DUNY Card

Parking

All students who wish to park on campus require parking stickers which can be obtained from the Parking Center in Casey Hall.  Stickers must be displayed on the lower left front windshield. Commuter students should use the lots located behind Casey Hall,  Prusmack Center, or the main lot on Western Highway. Resident vehicles are assigned to the main lot or to the lots behind Guzman Hall or in front of Hertel Hall. Parking permits, procedures, and regulations are available in the Parking Center in Casey Hall, which can be reached at 845-848-4062.
